Mad Casino wagering requirements, worked through
A wagering requirement is a turnover target. Until you have staked a set multiple of your bonus, the bonus is not yours to withdraw. At Mad Casino that multiple is advertised as 30x, and it is applied to the bonus alone.
In this explainer
The definition in one sentence
“30x” means the total value of qualifying bets you place must reach thirty times the bonus credited before the bonus — and anything won with it — converts into withdrawable cash.
Note the word qualifying. A bet only counts if it is on a game that contributes, below the maximum stake, and placed before the bonus expires. Each of those conditions has its own page on this site, because each is a separate way to lose progress.
The arithmetic, with real numbers
Take three players at the first tier, where the match is 200%:
| Deposit | Bonus at 200% | Wagering at 30x | Spins at €1 to clear |
|---|---|---|---|
| €20 | €40 | €1,200 | 1,200 |
| €75 | €150 | €4,500 | 4,500 |
| €250 | €500 (tier cap) | €15,000 | 15,000 |
The right-hand column is the one people underestimate. At a typical pace of around 500 spins an hour, the €250 deposit needs roughly thirty hours of play at €1 a spin. Raising the stake shortens that, but only up to the €5 maximum — at €5 a spin it is still 3,000 spins.
Bonus-only versus deposit-plus-bonus
Many operators charge wagering on the deposit and the bonus together. The difference is large, so it is worth seeing side by side for a €100 deposit that earns €200 at the first tier:
| Basis | Amount the 30x is applied to | Total wagering |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus only (Mad Casino, as advertised) | €200 | €6,000 |
| Deposit + bonus (common elsewhere) | €300 | €9,000 |
On this measure the stated terms are on the lighter side. That does not make the bonus cheap; it makes it less expensive than the same headline would be on a deposit-plus-bonus basis.
What clearing costs on average
A useful rule of thumb: expected loss ≈ wagering × house edge. A slot with 96% RTP has a 4% edge. Clearing €6,000 of wagering on such a slot costs, on average, about €240. Since the bonus in that example was €200, the average outcome is that the bonus is used up before the requirement is met. Variance means some players finish well ahead and many finish with nothing.
This is the honest way to view any wagered bonus: it is extra playing time with a small chance of a cash-out, not free money.
Which money is spent first
Operators differ on whether your stakes come out of real money or bonus money first. Where real money is used first, you can usually withdraw your deposit before touching the bonus, at the price of giving the bonus up. Where bonus money is used first, your deposit is effectively locked until wagering finishes. The order is set out in the operator's bonus terms; read it before you accept, not after.
A short checklist before accepting
- Multiply the bonus by 30. Is that turnover realistic for your normal stake and session length?
- Check the tier's expiry: 30 days after the previous tier unlocked.
- Check the excluded-games list — some high-RTP and jackpot titles do not count.
- Keep every stake at or under €5 on slots and €10 on tables while the bonus is live.
- Decide in advance what you will do if the balance runs out early.
Questions readers ask
Does the 30x apply to my deposit as well?
Not as advertised. Mad Casino states the requirement is charged on the bonus portion only, so a €60 bonus carries €1,800 of wagering regardless of the size of the deposit that unlocked it.
Do I have to lose the wagering amount?
No. Wagering counts stakes, not losses. The same euros can be staked many times as they win and lose. What you can expect to lose depends on the games' house edge, not the headline requirement.
What happens to winnings if I stop part-way through?
While wagering is incomplete, bonus funds and the winnings made with them generally cannot be withdrawn. Check the operator's terms for how a withdrawal request affects an active bonus — on many sites it forfeits the bonus.
