Sources and references policy
Every factual statement on the site comes from somewhere. This page sets out where, and how we decide which sources to trust.
Order of priority
| Priority | Source type | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Operator's published terms and conditions | Bonus figures, wagering, caps, cashback rules |
| 2 | Game information screens | RTP, volatility, feature rules |
| 3 | UK official bodies and charities | GAMSTOP scope, Gambling Commission remit, ASA rules, support services |
| 4 | Payment providers' own documentation | Typical processing times and fees |
| 5 | Industry testing bodies | Background on certification and fairness testing |
Sources we do not use as evidence
- Anonymous forum posts and social media claims.
- Other affiliate sites' summaries, except as a prompt to check the primary source.
- Press releases, unless the claim can be matched to the operator's terms.
How we cite
Where we rely on an external public resource, such as a charity's helpline or a regulator's guidance, we link to it directly. Links to support organisations are marked nofollow and open in a new tab. Operator terms change frequently and are behind dynamic pages, so we reference them by document name and record the date checked rather than linking to a version that may already be out of date.
When sources disagree
If two sources disagree — for example, a promotional banner and the bonus terms — the terms win, and we say on the page that the two differ.
Dating what we read
Each time we read an operator document for a page, we note the date. That date drives the “last checked” line on the page. If an explainer relies on several documents read on different days, the page shows the oldest of those dates, not the newest — a deliberately conservative choice, so readers are never told a page is fresher than its weakest source.
Archived copies of the terms we relied on are kept internally, which lets us show readers exactly what a clause said on a given date if a dispute about our wording ever arises.
